The larger models are largely identical with Haswell CPU options as well, save for additional discrete Nvidia graphics options and dual 2.5-inch SATA bays for the 17-incher. Though HP also unveiled new 15.6-inch Envy 15 and 17.3-inch Envy 17 models, the ultra high-resolution option will only be available for the 14-inch model. The rounded edges and corners are definitely less boxy, but the rubberized underside and even the subwoofer remain a staple. The chassis has had a significant redesign from the previous generation of Envy models, such as the 2012 Envy 15, including a more tapered front edge with less emphasis on the orange lining that surrounded the Chiclet keyboard. The notebook will compete with other high-resolution offerings such as Apple's MacBook Pro with Retina Display and the recently released Toshiba Kirabook.įrom our short time with the display model, everything from the palm rests to the lid feels solid, though the high-resolution option was not yet available to see. For a 14-inch screen, this equates to almost 262 dots per inch for presumably much crisper images and screen real estate. Like the Tegra-4 powered SlateBook X2 announcement the week prior, the new Envy is another HP first with the option to include a stunning 3200 x 1800 pixel resolution display. HP continues its barrage of new announcements this month with the reveal of the high-end touch-enabled Envy 14.
